Port Union competing in cross-Canada heritage competition

PORT UNION- The Union Art Project in Port Union is one of only 25 community heritage projects across Canada competing in the National Trust for Canada’s “This Place Matters” crowdfunding competition.

The competition allows community heritage groups to promote their heritage projects, fundraise and raise monies.

The 25 town projects are divided into two categories: Big projects (which have a budget of $60,000 or more) and small projects (which have a budget of under $60,000).

There is $220,000 worth of prizes to be won in each category, with national and regional prizes to be won in each category as well.

The Union Art Project aims to redevelop a row house duplex on Main Street into a multi-purpose space for community art.

Voting opened today, June 15. Every dollar donated to a project also counts as a vote.
