Ruth Forsey-Gale believes tourism is all about people being free in Mother Nature’s playground.

“Tourism is for everybody, even people with disabilities and we’re working to even further improve accommodating that type of clientele,” Forsey-Gale said during an interview on Wednesday.

The operator of Pirates Haven ATV Friendly RV Park Chalets and Adventures in Robinsons with her husband Paul Gale thought it was just great to have so many tourism operators and stakeholders in one room while in attendance at the Go Western Newfoundland annual general meeting on Wednesday.

She was one of about 75 people in attendance and she liked the fact people from the provincial tourism body were on hand to talk about product development and ways of marketing to further grow their industry.

Forsey-Gale said it was really good to hear operators have more technology available to them through Go Western Newfoundland as it’s something they all need to be advanced in.

“People now globally learn about your products online with no distinctions from millennials to those in their 90s as people of all ages use electronic devices today,” she said. “Everybody has a right to be a tourist.”

Forsey-Gale said this past summer her operation, which she and husband Paul Gale run, had a 95-year-old woman who wanted to go out on an all-terrain vehicle tour and they accommodated her in their six-seater.

The same woman is planning a six-hour tour in the future.
