A sentencing hearing has been set for Oct. 18 for a Massey Drive man charged with assault and with escaping from police custody.
Spencer Gordon Bell, 23, appeared by video from the West Coast Correctional Centre in provincial court in Corner Brook Tuesday afternoon.
During the appearance his lawyer, Gary Kearney, entered guilty pleas to six of the nine charges he’s facing.
They include an assault charge and two breaches of an undertaking or recognizance from June, escaping from lawful custody and two more breaches of court orders from September.
Bell became the subject of a police search following a June assault and was arrested on June 13 and released from custody on a surety and certain conditions.
On Sept. 2 Bell was arrested on a warrant but escaped custody and fled into the woods around the Glynmill Inn Pond area of the Corner Brook Stream Trail. He was arrested a short time later and has been in custody ever since.
