St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cathedral takes on pie fundraiser

There was some pretty intense pie-making going on at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cathedral in Corner Brook on Wednesday as volunteers put together some 700 ready-to-bake pies as a fundraiser for the church. It’s the second year the church has held the pie fundraiser. Elaine Watton, left, and Connie Lamswood, right, helped mix up the dough for the pie crusts, and are seen here with Stelman Flynn, who organized and oversaw the pie-making.

It was pretty clear from watching Ethel Flynn handle the dough on Wednesday that she’s made a few pies over the years.

Flynn was among those gathered at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cathedral in Corner Brook to help with the church’s apple pie fundraiser.

It was the second year the church has undertaken the effort under the direction of parishioner Stelman Flynn. Volunteers from the congregation, and a few helpers from Labrador, peeled and prepared the apples for the pies, mixed up the dough for the crusts, filled the crusts and packaged the assembled pies.

Some 700 apple pies, ready for baking, were assembled during the day.
