While the Stephenville town council previously set dates for budget consultations, they’ve now been pushed back by a day.
The first, which was previously set for Nov. 20 is now taking place on Nov. 21 with Mark Felix, chair of the town’s finance committee, speaking to members of the Bay St. George Chamber of Commerce on the upcoming budget at noon hour at Days Inn.
The second is set for Nov. 22 at council chambers in the town hall at 7 p.m. and the last is on Nov. 23 at 8 a.m. in council chambers.
Felix said at the regular general meeting of council on Thursday evening that at the sessions he will do a power point presentation on the town’s financial situation, followed by a question-and-answer period and the acceptance of survey papers.
He said council’s goal is to get at least 500 surveys and from them plan for this year’s budget and their four-year term. He said they plan consultation with the public annually.
The budget consultation survey will also be available at the town office or by visiting www.townofstephenville.com.
Felix said the surveys must be submitted to the town office no later than Nov. 30.
“It’s all part of the commitment set out by Mayor Tom Rose to be open and transparent,” he said.
Rose was absent from the meeting on Thursday evening.
