Adolph Leroux

Adolph Leroux
The LeRoux family wish to announce the passing of our dear father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather. He is pre-deceased by his parents Charles and Bridget (Benoit), wife Mary (Meade) eldest son Adolph Junior (Jayson). He is survived by his only brother Kevin (Loretta), daughter (Valda), sons (Tony, Rod, Bernard, Calvin and Ted), grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dad was born at Marche’s Point on the Port au Port peninsula on August 29, 1925. He grew up in Marche’s Point and at a young age fished with his father and immediate relatives. As a young man, he went with his father working in the woods cutting for Bowaters. In 1951 he moved to St. Judes, just outside of Deer Lake and continued to work in the woods until he moved to Baie Verte in 1961 to work on the construction of Advocate Mines. He worked there for 13 years and became a Heavy Duty Mechanic. He made a lot of friends during his time there. In 1976, Dad decided to make a move and went to Ear Falls, Ontario to work at The Griffith Mine (Iron Ore). He stayed there for 2 years and made his way out to Fort McMurray, Alberta to work at an Oil Sands Mine (Syncrude Canada Ltd). He retired from Syncrude in 1989 and moved back to Newfoundland to settle down in Pasadena on the west coast. While in Pasadena he became friends with many people and was involved in the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. For the last three years, Dad resided at the Mountainview House seniors home in Meadows, near Corner Brook. He was well liked there and loved to play cards, 120’s being his favorite. The family would like to thank the staff at Mountainview for their loving care of our father, especially Frankie Park, who went above and beyond to not only help Dad, but to become a good friend to him. We would also like to thank the nurses and doctors at Western Memorial Hospital and the Health Science Centre in St. John’s for their loving care of our father. Dad will be laid to rest at the Roman Catholic cemetery in Pasadena. Viewing and Rosary will take place in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Hall on Thursday (May 17) and Friday (May 18) from 7-9PM. Mass will take place on Saturday (May 19) at 10AM, followed by burial at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, Deer Lake.
