Jessie A. Allen (nee Banks)

Jessie passed away peacefully at Corner Brook Long Term Care just after midnight on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at the age of 87. Born January 5, 1931 in Gilliams, Jessie was the eldest daughter of Thomas and Hannah Banks. She married Robert Henry Allen in 1953 and, together, they raised four loving children. Jessie was a talented seamstress, a wizard in the kitchen (her cinnamon rolls will be missed!), and a longstanding member of the Curling Memorial United Church Women’s Group. Jessie remained dedicated to her children and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hannah (1974), husband, Robert Henry Allen (1980), four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her sons Edward (Debbie), Gary (Debbie), Murray, and daughter Barbara Boutcher (Jim), as well as grandchildren Nancy (Nicole), Erica (Ashley), Robert (Dayna), Heidi (Pat), Patrick, and Paula and great-grandchildren Brody, Max, Eden, Asia, Ana Mika, Nolan, and Chandler, as well as many other family and friends. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home 218 Curling Street Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 16th, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Memorial United Church, Curling Street with Alice Moores, DLM officiating, followed by the interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
