Stephenville Crossing man hospitalized after fight

STEPHENVILLE CROSSING  A 29-year-old Stephenville Crossing man has been flown to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s because of injuries suffered in a fight early Tuesday morning.

At about 3 a.m., the Bay St. George RCMP were notified about the injured man. The investigation revealed he was hurt in an altercation with another man on a street in Stephenville Crossing.

A 34-year-old Stephenville Crossing man was arrested at about 4:45 a.m., and has been charged with aggravated assault. He is expected to appear in provincial court in Stephenville this afternoon.

The victim was taken to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville before being flown to St. John’s. Police were not certain of the extent of the injuries, and the investigation is continuing.
