Two charged after Monday morning scrap at Wal-Mart in Corner Brook

CORNER BROOK  Two men originally from Sop’s Arm have been charged after getting into a fight at Wal-Mart in Corner Brook early Monday morning.

According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, staff at the department store located at Murphy Square called the police at around 9:10 a.m. with a complaint that two men were fighting in the main lobby.

Police arrested the two onsite upon responding to the call.

The men, aged 26 and 21, were known to one another. They were both charged with common assault and causing a disturbance.

The older of the two was released and had a first appearance in provincial court scheduled for February.

The younger man was subject to conditions of an undertaking and was held in custody until he could appear in provincial court Monday afternoon. He was subsequently released with a next court appearance set for the new year.

Neither of the men were injured during their altercation.
