(Earlier story)

Western Health has lifted its visitor precaution at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques.

However, similar precautions are still in place for both the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home and Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook and the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders.

The visitation limitations are in place due to a number of people within these institutions with gastrointestinal or influenza-like illness.

Western Health is asking for the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation precaution. Exceptions for visitation may be made in extenuating circumstances for immediate family members.

However, people are asked to call before attempting to visit. To inquire about visiting family at Corner Brook Long Term Care, please call 637-3999; to inquire about visiting patients and residents at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre, please call 861-3139, extension 214; and to inquire about visiting the orthopedic unit at Western Memorial, please call 637-5000, extension 5303.
