Members of the Corner Brook Silver Blades will be sharing the ice with one of this province’s most beloved figure skaters tonight during their annual ice show, as Marystown native and two-time Olympic medalist Kaetlyn Osmond is the special guest for the show scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at the Corner Brook Civic Centre. Osmond previously skated in the Silver Blades ice show in 2013. We spoke to members of the skating club about the big night during a practice earlier this week.
Question: Are you excited about seeing Katelyn Osmond? Has she been an inspiration?
I’m very, very excited. She’s been a big inspiration for me skating with how good she was and she inspired me to be even better than I can be.
I’m really excited, I think it’s going to be really fun. She’s definitely been an inspiration because it shows someone from Newfoundland can be a world champion.
I’m actually very, very excited. I met her before in Goose Bay, Labrador, and she won gold and I was so happy. She’s been a very big inspiration for me. The way that she skates and her motivation for it, just makes me strive for it more.
I’m really excited because I haven’t seen her in a long time, since the last ice show that she was here. She’s an inspiration because she’s done really good.
I’m very excited. She’s already been here, but now it’s going to be even better. She’s most definitely an inspiration because of her accomplishments.
It’s kind of surreal that she’s an Olympic medalist and a world champion and she’s coming here to Corner Brook. She’s definitely been an inspiration because of all her success.
