Barons snag brace of silver medals at Mary Tavenor Memorial

Conception Bay’s Lucas Adams was tough on the hometown boys in the showdown for gold in the peewee division at the Mary Tavenor Memorial.

Adams tossed the pitching win and stroked a homer and a double to lead Conception Bay to a 12-9 victory over the Corner Brook AAA Peewee Barons Sunday in the championship final at Fred Basha Memorial Park.

Lucas Bishop also belted a homer and a double for the victors.

Cole Porter, Braden Lockyer and Colin Hulan colllected doubles for the hometown Barons who had Michael White tagged with the pitching loss.

The following is a look at what happened Sunday in the other divisions of the Mary Tavenor Memorial:



The hometown Barons had to settle for another silver medal when the AAA Barons lost 4-0 to Grand Falls-Windsor in the Mosquito championship game Sunday at Little Jubilee Field.

Nathan Casey went 1-for-2 to lead the charge for the winners.

Nathan King went 2-for-2 for the Barons in a losing cause.

Grand Falls-Windsor advanced to the division final by virtue of a 7-4 victory over Conception Bay North in semifinal play at Little Jubilee Field.

The AAA Barons downed the AA Barons 13-7 in the other semifinal tilt to earn a shot at bragging rights.



Conception Bay South defeated Mount Pearl AAA by a score of 9-5 to claim the Bantam crown. Top batters and pitching stats were not available as of press time.

The hometown Barons, who lost 12-10 to Stephenville and 10-1 to Mount Pearl AAA in round-robin action, bowed out of medal contention with a 15-8 loss to Conception Bay North in one of the elimination games at Jubilee Field.
