The Corner Brook Barons beat the St. John’s Capitals 11-3 to win the provincial AA midget baseball championship over the weekend.

Barons right-handed pitcher Ryan Park picked up the top pitcher award and Andrew Flood got the nod as tournament MVP as the city squad finished up a perfect weekend after nabbing top spot with a 4-0 record in round-robin play.

The road to gold included a 4-3 win over the Capitals in round-robin play on Friday. The Barons improved to 2-0 on Day 2 with a 12-2 thrashing of the Pasadena Pirates and things only looked better after a 12-9 win over Mount Pearl and an 8-5 decision over the Gander Pilots to close out the round-robin portion.

Meanwhile, the Corner Brook Barons won the provincial peewee A baseball crown with a 10-8 win over the Paradise Blazers Sunday afternoon in Grand Falls-Windsor.

The Barons finished in top spot in round-robin play after stringing together four wins. The Barons defeated the Blazers 10-3 in round-robin play to kick off a perfect road trip. The Barons defeated Mount Pearl 17-8, before an 8-3 win over Gander and 8-6 decision over Grand Falls-Windsor.

Zach Fagan of the Barons won the tournament MVP award, while Barons benchmate Tommy Ford was the winner of the top defensive player award.
