The Veitch’s Ultramar Hawks defeated the West Side Monarchs to take the Corner Brook Supplement Shack Senior Baseball League championship in six games. Veitch’s Ultramar Hawks pitcher Matt Colbourne threw five innings of flawless ball on Friday — no hits, no runs, no walks, and 11 strikeouts — in an 11-0 mercy-rule win over the West Side Monarchs at Jubilee Field.

The victory gave the Hawks the 4-2 win in the best-of-seven Corner Brook Supplement Shack Senior Baseball League championship series.

It was another story for Monarchs pitcher Brad Brewer, who was tagged for 11 runs on 15 hits, with five walks through his five innings of play.

Mike Simms scored three runs and had two RBIs in a 3-for-4 outing at the plate, while Perry Alexander chipped in with three RBIs and a run scored while going 2-for-3. Ryan Price was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.
