Monarchs finish Corner Brook Senior Baseball League regular season in first place

The West Side Monarchs earned a 12-9 decision over the Wing’n It Marlins at Jubilee Field on Thursday night and have finished in first place in the Corner Brook Molson Senior Baseball League.

Aaron Sheppard was 2-for-2 in the regular season finale win with two runs and two RBIs, while Braden Lockyer racked up two runs and two RBIs in a 2-for-4 outing.

Josh Oake crossed the plate three times in the loss while going 2-for-3, with an RBI. Andrew Flood was 3-for-4 with three runs.

Kevin Farrell picked up the win on the mound, allowing four runs (one earned) on eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Rob Park came in for two innings, surrendering five runs (one earned) on two hits, with two walks.

Danny Glover was the losing pitcher in a four-inning performance that saw him give up four runs (two earned) on four hits. He struck out one and walked four. Chris Dobbin had a rough ride in his one inning of work, getting lit up for eight runs (five earned) on five hits, with two walks.

The two teams lock horns again Sunday in Game 1 of a best-of-three semifinal series, with the Veitch’s Ultramar Hawks and Veitch Wellness Aces doing battle in the other semifinal series.
