Kobe Burt went 2-for-2  to lead Grand Falls-Windsor to a 12-2 win over Conception Bay North to claim gold at the Aquafina provincial AA Mosquito Baseball Tournament in Pasadena Sunday afternoon.

Burt’s hitting prowess was evident throughout the nine-team tournament with a sizzling .870 batting average giving him the top batter award.

Christian Reardon had two hits in as many at-bats to lead the charge for the CBN representatives.

The Corner Brook AA Barons had to settle for fifth place overall after dropping a 11-9 decison to Gander in a placement game.

The Corner Brook squad finished with a 1-1 record before playoff matchups were determined, opening the tournament with a 4-1 triumph over the host Pasadena Pirates before being downed 7-1 by the tournament champions.

The Pirates had to settle for seventh spot after being drubbed 12-6 by St. John’s in a placement game.

The Pirates lost to St. John’s 10-2 in its other preliminary matchup.
