It was a rare tie between the Broncos and Gophers on Sunday in action from the Corner Brook Coors Light Touch Football League at Wellington Street Sports Complex.

The two teams played to a 6-6 draw.

The game started with two interceptions each by both teams and then was slow going from there.

Scoring first were the Gophers on a touchdown pass from Steve Hynes to Robbie Myrden, which was followed up by a touchdown run by Broncos quarterback Ryan Barry.

Hynes threw three picks for the Gophers and Barry added four more for the Broncos.

In the second game of the day, it was the Gators beating the Pirates 18-16. The Gators started with two quick pick-sixes, one each by Josh Noel and Shawn Howell.

The Pirates responded with a touchdown pass from Greg Whelan to Marc Gillis with a two-point convert from Whelan to Jeff Hull.

Second-half scoring saw the Gators score a touchdown on a pass from Riley Woodman to Francis Griffin, before the Pirates scored on a blocked punt returned for a touchdown by Gillis, who also converted for two points.

Josh Skinner lead the defense for the Gators with three interceptions and Woodman added three sacks.

In the final game of the day, it was the Winmar Raiders beating the Boston Pizza Knights 25-12.

The Raiders scored early and fast in the first half with two touchdown passes from Mike Macphee to Ben Maynard and Ryan Hancock.

Chris Bulger added a touchdown pass to Craig Griffin and a pick-six.

The Knights finally got on the board in the second half with a touchdown pass from Mark Randell to Nathan Biggin and a pick-six by Lucas Vincent.

Bulger rounded out the scoring with a single-point rouge.

The schedule for next week sees the Gophers playing the Raiders at 10 a.m., the Broncos facing off against the Knights at 11:45 a.m., and the last game of the day has the Pirates up against Marine Lounge at 1:30 p.m.
