Churchill, Seaward fleetest of foot at Downtown Dash in Corner Brook

Corner Brook’s Lee Churchill won the  BMO Downtown Dash five-kilometre race in Corner Brook on Thursday evening for the second year in a row, finishing at 16:47.9.

Churchill was actually the second runner to finish the race, but Corner Brook’s Damien Pike, who looked to have won with a time of 16:06.4, was disqualified for not completing the entire course.

Stephen Adams of Massey Drive was second overall with a 17:23.6 time, with Joe Barry placing third at 18:08.3.

Stephanie Seaward of Dartmouth, N.S. was the fastest female in the field. She crossed the line with a time of 19:52.2, which was ninth among all racers.

Roslynn Decker of Corner Brook was second among women with a 20:11.8 final time, while Rocky Harbour’s Courtney King was third at 20:25.5.
