The Corner Brook Royals got the sweep they needed to stay in good shape for first place in the West Coast Senior Hockey League.

Jeremy Bishop, Josh Taylor and Ian Pilgrim scored two goals apiece to lead the Royals to a 10-4 victory over the Stephenville Jets on Saturday night at the Stephenville Dome.

Ken Mills, Allan Flynn, Dawson Drake and Shane Colombe supplied the goals for the hometown Jets.

On Friday night, the Royals racked up four goals with the man advantage and added a short-handed tally for good measure to register a 7-4 win over the Deer Lake Red Wings in a seesaw battle at the Corner Brook Civic Centre.

Andrew Hawco had two goals — one of them on the power-play— and added an assist to lead the charge for the Royals.

Ryan McMackin, Tommy Ryan and Adam Guy also had power-play markers for the Royals, who held a 3-1 advantage after the first period.

Matt Roche, Luke Parsons and T.J. Smith scored on the power play for the Red Wings.

Jamie Penney and Jeremy Bishop, with a short-handed tally late in the third, rounded out the scoring for the Royals.

The Red Wings kept their hopes for a first-place finish in the standings alive with an 8-3 victory over the Port aux Basques Mariners Saturday night at the Hodder Memorial Stadium in Deer Lake.

Ryan Penney and Luke Parsons, two of the biggest offensive threats for the red and white all season, picked up three goals apiece to give the hometown crowd something to cheer about.

A result from Sunday’s makeup game between the Stephenville Jets and Port aux Basques wasn’t available at press time.

The regular season in the West Coast Senior Hockey League wraps up this weekend with a handful of makeup games.

The Jets and Mariners tangle in Port aux Basques on Friday night, while Saturday’s two final games of the regular season will see the Royals and Jets battle at the Stephenville Dome and the Mariners and Red Wings matching up Saturday night at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex.
