Double gold for Corner Brook in provincial Grade 8 hoops

Corner Brook Intermediate captured the gold medal in both the West Coast Provincial Grade 8 Girls and Boys basketball championships over the weekend.

In the girls bracket in Deer Lake, the Corner Brook Grade 7s downed Xavier 34-31 in the championship game.

The champions edged the Corner Brook Grade 8s 50-38 to make it to the championship game, while Xavier defeated Exploits Valley High 41-22 in the other semifinal.

In Gander, Corner Brook Intermediate downed Xavier 46-26 to earn the top prize.

In the semifinals, Corner Brook ousted St. Paul’s Grade 8s 44-24, while Xavier took down Exploits Valley 64-44.
