The Newfoundland Growlers, the new ECHL hockey team based out of St. John’s are embarking on a cross-province exhibition game tour against the Brampton Beast in October, with stops in Clarenville, Deer Lake and Stephenville.
The Growlers, an affiliate of the NHL club Toronto Maple Leafs, will take on the Montreal Canadien affiliate Beast during their training camp, scheduled from Sept. 30 to Oct. 9.
“We are proud to continue our commitment to make the Growlers this province’s team. It’s important to our organization that we reach all the deserving hockey fans across the province.” said Dean MacDonald, Chair of Deacon Sports and Entertainment in a news release.
“We look forward to welcoming the Brampton Beast in what we know will be an exciting matchup, as we head into our inaugural season of Growlers hockey.”
The first game of the Growlers’ season will be on Oct. 12 against the Florida Everblades at Mile One Centre in St. John’s.
Schedule of games across province:
• Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Stephenville Dome;
• Friday, Oct 5 at 7 p.m. at the Hodder Memorial Centre in Deer Lake;
• Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Eastlink Events Centre (EEC) in Clarenville.
