Hawks complete sweep of Marlins in Corner Brook senior baseball playoffs

The victory gave them a 3-0 sweep in the best-of-five Corner Brook Molson Senior Baseball League semifinal series.

Mike Simms chipped in with two RBIs and a run scored in a 2-for-4 effort in the win. Wayne Hicks was 2-for-2 in the losing cause.

Garret Anderson allowed five hits in as many innings to snag the victory on the mound. He struck out three and walked two.

Sean Anderson took the loss, going 3.2 innings and giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits, with two walks and a strikeout.

Game 3 of the other semifinal series between the West Side Monarchs and Veitch Physiotherapy Aces goes ahead 7 p.m. tonight at Jubilee. The Monarchs lead that series 2-0.
