CORNER BROOK  Western Royals veteran forward Chris Peach is about to find out what it’s like to coach in the senior ranks here in the province.

The Gander Flyers announced the signing of Peach as the team’s new head coach via its Facebook Page. Peach is a seasoned veteran of senior hockey having played with the Deer Lake Red Wings, Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts and last season with the Royals.

A former star with the University of New Brunswick, Peach enjoyed a 10-year professional career which took him to leaves across North America and Europe.

Bringing in a new head coach became a reality when Flyers benchboss Dennis Laing opted to resign as head coach due to increasing work and personal responsibilities. Laing will, however, stay apart of the organization as an executive member in the volunteer role of corporate sponsorship committee chairperson.

Peach will guide the purple and gold in the new four-team Central-West Senior Hockey League that also features the Western Royals, Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts and Clarenville Caribous.
