Bantam Kings tangle with minor midget club instead of Thunder

Due to the winter storm this past weekend, the TriCom Thunder were unable to visit the city to tangle with the Western AAA Bantam Kings.

So instead, the Kings faced off for a pair of exhibition tilts against the Western AAA Minor Midget squad at the Corner Brook Civic Centre.

In the first game on Saturday evening, the Bantam Kings prevailed 2-0 on a pair of goals by Josh Osbourne.

Lucas Park recorded the shutout, while Danny Walsh and Kirklin Young split duties in the loss.

In the second game on Sunday morning, the Bantam Kings edged the minor midgets 5-4 in overtime, with Mark Hillier capping off a hat trick performance with the game-winner in the extra frame.

Brady Taylor and Bradin Burden also struck for the winning side, who were up 4-1 heading into the third before the minor midgets struck three times to tie it up.

Jacob Bennett, Daniel Stark, Brady Marche and Evan Gallant scored for the minor midgets. Gallant’s goal tied the game with 20 seconds remaining with his side on the power play and with their net empty for the extra attacker.
