All they need to know now is who their opponent will be, and they will have a say in who that is with two games remaining.

The Jets, leading the pack with nine points on a 4-0-1 record, will tangle with the second-place Corner Brook Royals (3-2 record for six points) Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Corner Brook Civic Centre.

If the Royals can pick up a fourth-straight win, after losing the first two games in the abbreviated West Coast Senior Hockey League season, they will advance to the final.

If the Royals lose, then Saturday’s final game of the regular campaign — the Port aux Basques Mariners (2-2-1 versus the Deer Lake Red Wings (1-4) at 7:30 p.m. at the Hodder — will certainly be a huge game and a must-see for senior hockey fans, as the Mariners can earn a berth in the final against the Jets if they defeat the Red Wings.

Johnny Jones and company will have to be at their best for the Royals to knock off the Jets Friday night to ensure Saturday’s game is meaningless.

Huge crowds have taken in league action in all four centres. It is expected that Friday’s game will be a sellout, with a large contingent of fans from Stephenville making the road trip to the city.
