The Corner Brook Molson Ball Hockey League, with Robbie Greene and Scott Wayson serving as organizers, recently met with representatives of the civic centre to discuss concerns raised by the city about alcohol being consumed on the premises during league action.
Greene would not do an interview because the matter has been addressed, he said, but in a post on the league’s Facebook page Greene outlines the concerns civic centre officials have with the league.
The league has been warned that there will be repercussions if fans or players continue to drink beer in the stands during games, the post read.
The City of Corner Brook will shut down the league for the balance of the season if anybody is caught drinking in the stands, it read.
A league game last week that saw a scuffle at the end also caused some concern for management at the civic centre, according to the Facebook post. According to the post, management at the civic centre had concerns about a report that a fan or two had jumped into the bench of an opposing team during the ruckus.
Several requests for an interview with operators of the venue on this matter were made to the city, but nobody was made available to speak on it.
