CORNER BROOK Darren Colbourne’s knack around the net during his pro hockey career in the East Coast Hockey League is being recognized with the highest honour.
The East Coast Hockey League has revealed that the 2015 Hall of Fame Class will include Colbourne, Louis Dumont, Scott Sabatino and Carl Scheer. The group will be formally inducted as the eighth class of the ECHL Hall of Fame at a luncheon ceremony being held in conjunction with the ECHL All-Star Game Jan. 21 in Orlando.
Colbourne, who starred for the Corner Brook Royals in senior hockey circles before and after his pro career, played 421 games over seven seasons in the ECHL with Dayton, Richmond, Raleigh an Augusta.
He ranks fifth in league history with 323 goals and 14th in points with 567 over his seven years of hockey at the tier below the American Hockey League.
Twice during his career he scored 69 goals in a season — 1991-92 with Dayton and 1993-94 with Richmond — which ranks as the third-most in a single season in ECHL history.
