An overtime goal by Elwood Regional High Lakers’ Mason Campbell put the West Coast High School Hockey League final to bed on Monday evening at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex, as the home team defeated the Stephenville High Spartans 3-2 to take the best-of-five series in three straight games.

It was a lot closer than the sweep makes it out to be, however, as all three games were decided in overtime.

The Spartans led the game 2-0 with less than two minutes remaining in the game, before the Lakers pulled their goalie and scored twice to even it up, with the tying marker coming with 14.7 seconds to go.

Members of the championship-winning Elwood Regional High Lakers include, from left, (front) Kirklin Young, Jonah Soucy, Jacob Bennett, Cody Reid, Josh Oake, Cody Way, Kirkland Anstey, Brett Langdon, Daniel Stark and Jordon Best; (back) trainer Brent Young, Noah Burden, Josh Shears, Brett Urquhart, Colton Bishop, Drew Langdon, Michael Mahar, Jacob Oake, Mason Campbell, Brady Carroll, coach Darren Langdon and coach Todd Stark.
