It’s a stranglehold, but it’s certainly going to be a slow choke-out.

The Elwood High Lakers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five West Coast High School Hockey League final after a 5-0 shutout win on Tuesday night at the Stephenville Dome.

The series won’t resume until March 19 in Deer Lake, however, due to the Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games.

Cody Reid, Mason Campbell, Brett Urquhart, Kyle Campbell and Skylar Coates lit the lamp for the Lakers in the win.

Jordan Best posted the goose egg, with Tristan Hynes being charged with the defeat.
