King, a Corner Brook native, lead the Game 7 charge for his Amherst CIBC Gundy Ramblers with a five-point game.
He scored minutes into overtime to give the Ramblers a 6-5 victory over the Pictou County Weeks Crushers and propel his club to a 4-3 first-round best-of-seven Maritime Hockey League series victory.
The team’s offensive leader all season, King was expected to come up big in Game 7.
King finished with three goals and two assists for the Ramblers, who had to erase a two-goal deficit on two occasions in the decisive game.
He generated plenty of offence across seven games and heads into the next round with 13 points (eight goals, five assists).

Scoring the winning goal in a Game 7 is something every player has dreamed about at some point.
Adding to the moment, King had some special guests in the stands when he turned in the performance of his life.
His mom Michelle and grandmother Harriet Hillyard watched it all unfold. They surprised him by showing up for Game 7.
“It was an amazing game. We surprised him at the game and I think it worked,” Michelle King said in an email about the dramatic finish to the series.
King will have a chance to perform more magic when his team tangles with the Truro Bearcats in the second round.
A start date for this matchup hasn’t been determined yet.
