Two goals late in the second period gave Canada the 2-1 victory and a 4-0-0 record in tournament play so far.
Alicia Blomberg and Elysia Desmier recorded the goals for Canada, who were trailing 1-0 briefly in the middle frame. For the first time in the tournament, the local trio of St. Anthony’s Amanda Kean, Deer Lake’s Dawn Tulk and Kristen Kooze of Kippens were held off the scoresheet.
Kean remains the overall leading scorer through four games, however, with eight points (4G-4A). Tulk is in a three-way tie for second with seven points (1G-6A). Kooze has registered a goal and two assists.
Canada is back on the floor 1:15 p.m. today against the United States, before wrapping up round-robin play Saturday versus the Czech Republic.
The playoff round begins and ends on Sunday.
