When Hockey NL released the roster for the 2017 QMJHL Excellence Challenge later this month, Malcom Genge and Will Keating were a part of the 20-man squad.
As members of the team, they’ll travel to Blainville, Quebec April 27-30 where they’ll play teams from across the Atlantic provinces and the host province for the right to hoist the QMJHL Gold Cup.
Prospects will take part in on and off-ice combine testing a day prior to the competition starting.
Genge, a six-foot-one-inch blueliner from Anchor Point, posted nine points (five goals, four assists) in 30 games with the Western Kings on the provincial major midget circuit.
Meanwhile, Corner Brook's Keating registered similar numbers with nine points (three goals, six assists) in 30 games with the Kings.
