If the Gros Morne Wildlife Museum Gulls are going out, at least they’ll be going out in style at the hands of the Luxury Limo Rangers.
The Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five Corner Brook Molson Ball Hockey League final on Thursday night with a tight 3-2 triumph at the Kinsmen Arena II.
Glenn Staples (2) and Steve Simms provided the firepower for the Rangers in the win.
Kyle Robinson and Russell Hardy responded in defeat.
Adam Hicks outdueled Ricky Lushman between the pipes.
Staples put the Rangers on the board first at 13:44 of the opening frame, with Steve Hobbs and Garrett Brake drawing the helpers.
Robinson responded with 6:03 remaining in the first, from Jonny Anderson and John Walsh, to knot the game at one apiece.
Hardy then put the Gulls up by one at 2:33. Mike Hawco provided the assist.
The Gulls couldn’t get to half-time with the lead, however, as Staples struck again with about six seconds left on the clock to even the game. Rick Crane was credited with the helper.
Then, with Roger Snow in the box for boarding, the Rangers produced on the power play when Simms wired one home, with Jeremy Bishop gathering the apple.
