The victory puts the Lakers up 1-0 in the best-of-five West Coast High School Hockey League championship series.

Joshua Oake and Kirkland Anstey popped home the regulation markers for the winning side.

George Young and Ryan Perrier got on the board in the losing cause.

Kirklin Young earned the win in goal over Tristan Hynes.

The Spartans held the 1-0 lead after a last-minute goal by Young in the second period, but the Lakers knotted it at one, off the stick of Anstey, midway through the third.

The Lakers then grabbed a one-goal cushion with only 1:59 left on the clock, however, the Spartans wouldn’t quit, scoring 23 seconds later to send the game to the extra frame.
