The lanky southpaw puckstopper for the Dennis GM Western Kings leads the league with a sizzling 1.61 Goals Against Average heading into the year-end showcase tournament being held this weekend at the Pepsi Centre.

House, who has a 10-2 record with two shutouts, Riley Akerman of the Tri Pen Osprey and MacKenzie Janes of the St. John’s Maple Leafs were named the three finalists when Newfoundland and Labrador Major Midget Hockey League organizers announce this year’s award finalists this week.

Two of his teammates — slick-skating defenceman Jamie Penney and power forward Kings captain Brady Griffin-Hefford are also award finalist.

Penney, one of the top offensive defenders in the league with seven goals and 12 assists, is a finalist for the top defenceman alongside Christian Dawe of the Osprey and Scottie Greene of the Central Ice Pak.

Griffin-Hefford, despite missing six games, is tied for 11th in  league scoring with 17 goals and 10 assist in 22 games, so a worthy candidate for Most Valuable Player.

Nick Fitzgerald of the Central Ice Pak and league-leading sniper Conal McNamara of the Osprey are the other MVP finalist.

The winners will be announced at a league banquet Saturday night at the Pepsi Centre.
