With another two wins over the weekend, the Dennis GM Western Kings are now 14-0 to start the provincial major midget hockey league season.
The Kings plowed through the East Coast Blizzard 5-1 on Sunday and 4-1 on Saturday night at the civic centre in Corner Brook.
On Sunday, Drew Langdon scored the eventual game-winner late in the first period in the 5-1 win.
Kristopher Thomas, Brayden Ryan, Andrew Antle and Liam Smith also struck for the Kings.
Ethan Stuckless had the lone Blizzard goal, on the power play, which actually opened the scoring at 2:24 of the opening frame, before the Kings fired back with five unanswered.
Thomas tied it at 5:11 with a power-play marker of his own, from Lucas Robinson, before Langdon’s goal at 17:37 made it a 2-1 contest. Brady Parsons and Ryan picked up the helpers on that one.
Ryan found the back of the net himself at 4:08 of the second, assisted by Drew Cornick, and then Antle scored at 6:38 to give the Kings the 4-1 lead. Malcolm Genge and Jonathan Anderson supplied the assists.
Smith scored three seconds into the third period, from Antle and Noah Legge, to cap the scoring.
Lucas Park stopped 18 of 19 shots to earn the win, with Andrew d’Entremont suffering the loss, despite kicking aside 37 shots.
On Saturday, goals from Ryan, Robinson, Skyler Coates and Adrian Ward powered the Kings to the 4-1 triumph.
Sean Hickey replied in the losing cause.
Kirklin Young backstopped the victory, making 26 saves, with Jordan Blackwood taking the defeat. He allowed four goals on 57 shots.
The Kings host the St. John’s Maple Leafs for a pair of games this coming weekend.
