A fun day for the family is on the table at Whaleback Nordic Ski Club on Saturday.
The Whaleback Nordic Ski Club in Stephenville will host its annual Memorial Loppet at this time with registration getting underway at 10 a.m. at the nordic ski facility.
Started in 2009 as a family fun event for people from all walks of life, the Loppet also honours the memory of Whaleback members who have died.
Nordic skiers from the area are encouraged to hit the trail network in an effort to achieve personal fitness goals or distance goals.
There are five different course distances ranging from one kilometre to 21 kilometres. The 21-km loop is actually the same course as the one being used for the annual provincial cross-country ski marathon being held at Whaleback next weekend so those skiers will get a chance to check it out before doing the marathon.
