On the eve of the opening of the 2018 World Cup, the Northridge Curling Rangers and Ford Mustangs fought to a 1-1 draw Wednesday on a chilly spring night that felt like fall at Wellington Street Sports Complex.

Neither Corner Brook Molson Senior Men’s Soccer League club could find the back of the net through 71 minutes, until Daniel Whitten finally hit pay dirt in the 72nd to put the Mustangs in a great position to walk away with the win.

It wasn’t to be, however, as Matt Noseworthy struck in the 85th to knot the game forever at one apiece.

In other recent action, Pat Fewer and Cory Mosher both had two-goal games to lead the West Side Monarchs to a 4-2 victory over the Masters.

Cameron Locke scored twice for the Masters in the losing cause.
