Dillman, a Pasadena native, was back on the water with her former Humber Valley Rowing Club teammates for the 2017 Humber Valley Regatta after a lengthy layoff and she was happy to be there.
Bonnie King, Jean Rumbolt, Joy Connors, Lisa Halbot and Sarah Collier were in the boat with her again and they were rewarded for their efforts with a bronze medal as the sun poured down on a lively waterfront as a number of local musicians provided some entertainment on regatta day.
“We didn’t think it was going to happen,” Dillman said. “To be out there it just brought back a lot of memories. It’s like riding a bike you never forget.”
The K Team, with Keisha Brown serving as the captain, made its rowing debut and have already committed to getting on the water earlier next year with hopes of being more competitive with the rest of the boats.
“It was our first experience and I think for our first go, it went over pretty good,” Brown said.
Barry Group won gold in an exciting showdown with Nexxbar to wrap up the day.
A few beverages were certainly on order for these girls after a hard day on the water.
