Gary Kean found the back of the net at the 15:54-mark of overtime as Western Building Products edged Investors Group 2-1 in the opening game of the best-of-five Corner Brook Molson Men’s Broomball League final on Monday night.
Paul Prosper potted the regulation time goal for the victors.
Scott Wayson responded for the investors.
It was Wayson who opened the scoring at the Corner Brook Civic Centre, on a feed from Ron Hancock at 2:19 of the first.
Prosper knotted the game at 1-1 at 9:48 of the second half. Gordie Scott and Mike Hawco picked up the assists.
Then Kean’s goal ended it in the extra frame, from Hawco, to give his side the 1-0 series lead.
