Corner Brook Regional High Titans finish 1-2 at Hall of Fame Cup

Coming in ranked No. 8 out of eight teams, the Corner Brook Regional High Titans senior boys basketball team had nothing to lose and plenty to prove at the 2017 Hall of Fame Cup at the Power Plex in St. John’s over the weekend.

The Titans ultimately came up short, finishing 1-2, but demonstrated an ability to hang with some of the better teams in the province in the process.

In their third and final game, the Titans defeated the No. 5 ranked O’Donel High 80-67.

Jordan Ryan led the way with 22 points, while Ryan Joyce put up 15 points and 15 rebounds. Riley Woodman added a dozen points and Cody Power chipped in with 10.

In their opening game, the Titans were downed 92-46 by eventual champion Prince of Wales Collegiate.

Ryan Joyce and Jordan Ryan both drained a dozen points in the losing cause.

Their second game was a heartbreaking five-point loss to No. 2 ranked Holy Heart — 83-78.

Ryan’s 40 points was a season-high for him, while Joyce scored 12 and Riley Woodman added 10. Alan Hoven grabbed 15 rebounds.

In the final, Prince of Wales Collegiate downed Holy Heart 72-63 to claim the championship.
