Nathan Barker was pleased with his offensive prowess in the early going of his sophomore season, but he believes he has to be better if he wants the team to be a playoff contender.
The Corner Brook native, a six-foot-four forward who has found his form in the Atlantic University Sport, was one of the team’s leading scorers leading into the Christmas break.
“I think I need to be aggressive for the team to be successful,” Barker said Wednesday while enjoying being home for the holidays for a short break from the grind at MUN.

It’s not the start the guys were looking for, but Barker is quick to point out the team’s rough start had a lot to do with the scheduling with the Sea-Hawks taking on the Dalhousie Tigers and Acadia Axemen to start the season and then running up against the University of New Brunswick who had a perfect record when the Sea-Hawks matched up.
The good news is the Sea-Hawks picked up a win over UNB, handing the high-flying league leaders with their first win of the year.
“I think it shows we definitely got better as the season went on,” he said.
He’s home for a quick break to enjoy time with family and friends, but he will return to St. John’s on Dec. 28 to prepare for a three-game series against the Cape Breton Capers in a three-game series Jan. 6 weekend.
Home for the holidays he plans on throwing around the basketball with his buddies and there’s sure to be a few hours set aside for some X-Box fun with the boys.
