Deer Lake Skating Club holds annual ice show

The Deer Lake Skating Club held their annual ice show on Wednesday night at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex.

The theme of this year’s show was “Let’s skate, let’s jive and let’s keep the oldies alive.”

The boards around the ice were decorate to invoke memories of ice cream parlours and vintage cars, while the colourful costumes and retro music were designed to take the audience back in time.

Holly Fitzpatrick, a senior skater with the club and winer of the Joey Philpott Award, performs her solo routine. She will be heading to the Atlantics in April following a qualifying performance at the provincial championships earlier this year. She finished fourth in Atlantic competition in 2016.
