A stellar effort from Danielle Hurley helped power Whelan’s Gate to a 15-12 win over the West Side Monarchs in Corner Brook Molson Ladies Fastpitch Softball League action on Monday night at Ambrose O’Reilly Memorial Field.

Hurley was 3-for-3 at the plate, with three RBIs and three runs scored in the win. She was walked twice.

Peggy Colbourne chipped in with a 2-for-2 outing that saw her score once and drive in another. Wendy Parsons was 3-for-4. She scored twice and recorded an RBI. Cassaundra Park had a 2-for-3 stat line with two runs scored and an RBI.

Ashley Bromley scored four runs in the loss in a 3-for-3 night, while Sandy Barter was 1-for-2 with two runs scored. She was walked three times. Rose Ryan scored in a 1-for-2 performance, while Stephanie Sparkes ended up at 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Kathy Lukeman scattered 12 hits over seven innings in the pitching win, with 14 walks and four strikeouts.

Ashley Bromley gave up 14 hits through six innings of duty. She walked 10 batters.
