Evans went 5-for-5, scoring four times and driving in four more, while Hedderson was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBIs. The victory gave the Gators a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five Corner Brook Molson Ladies Fastpitch Softball League semifinal.

Janet Coulter aided the winning effort with a solid 3-for-5 showing that saw her score once and swat in another, with Coolene Brake also contributing three runs and an RBI in a 2-for-4 outing that saw her walked once.

Laura Prosper crossed the plate twice in the loss, ringing up two runs with her feet and another with the bat. Amanda Legge scored three times and was walked twice, while going 2-for-3.

Brake earned the pitching decision over Legge.

Brake gave up 18 hits and walked seven over her seven innings of duty, but it was enough to record the win. She struck out four.

Legge was also lit up for 18 hits, while walking eight, with the lone strikeout in seven innings.
