Local students go cross-country for C.C. Loughlin running meet

CORNER BROOK A total of 220 runners from nine local schools competed in the C.C. Loughlin Cross-Country Running Meet on Wednesday.

Participating schools included the host school, Humber Elementary, J.J. Curling, Sacred Heart, Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Gerard’s, St. Peter’s Academy in Benoit’s Cove, Xavier Junior High in Deer Lake and Main River Academy in Pollard’s Point.

Adrien Coles of Humber Elementary snagged first place in the Grade 4 Girls category, with classmate Heidi Perry placing second and Carley May of St. Gerard’s finishing third.

Among Grade 4 boys, Will Keating of St. Gerard’s was first, while Blake Humphries of C.C. Loughlin was right behind him. Matthew Burden of St. Gerard’s was third.

Humber Elementary’s Reegan French was the top runner in the Grade 5 Girls bracket, with Rebecca Warren of J.J. Curling placing second and Jessica Lockyer of Humber Elementary rounding out the top three.

J.J. Curling’s Liam Smith was the fastest among all Grade 5 Boys, with Andrew Antle of Humber Elementary in second and Ryan Randell of J.J. Curling in third.

Laura Brown of C.C. Loughlin led the pack in the Grade 6 Girls division.

Katie Perry of Humber Elementary followed her, while third place went to Kaylee Hackett of St. Peter’s.

Nicklas Dolomount of C.C. Loughlincame out on top in the Grade 6 Boys race. Daniel Stark of Xavier finished second, with Andrew Bruce of Sacred Heart taking third.
