Though she hadn’t crossed the finish line as of press time, a successful running of the White Mountains 100 ultramarathon in Alaska appeared imminent for Deer Lake native Michaela Pye.

As of 11 p.m. NT, had just 7.1 miles to the end of the 100-mile test of endurance.

The 22-year-old, who now resides in Corner Brook as a part-time environmental science student at Grenfell Campus, was one of 87 people registered for the race. It is only her second ultramarathon.

According to the live tracker on the event website, it was estimated Pye would reach the finish line around 1:51 a.m. NT Tuesday.

An official clocking of her personal running time so far was unavailable.
