First place in the standings is up for grabs. Two or three players have a chance to win the scoring race.

A lot riding on the line.

The final weekend of the regular season in the West Coast Senior Hockey League will feature the Corner Brook Royals and Deer Lake Red Wings looking to lock up first place in the standings.

The Royals (12-5-0) and Red Wings (11-4-2) are tied for top spot with 24 points heading into the final weekend.

Luke Parsons of the Deer Lake Red Wings leads the scoring race with 34 points, three more than Royals forward Ryan Meade and four more than Red Wings forward Ryan Penney.

The Royals close out the regular season Saturday night with a game against the Stephenville Jets 7:30 p.m. at the Stephenville Dome, while the Red Wings wrap up the regular season Saturday 7:30 p.m. against the Port aux Basques Mariners at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex in Deer Lake.

In case of a tie, the team with the most wins would secure first place in the standings.

The Royals, because they have one more win than the Red Wings, will have to lose against the Jets and the Red Wings prevail over the Mariners for Deer Lake to claim first place over the Royals.
