CORNER BROOK  Mike Morgan and Andrew Antle had two goals apiece as Western downed Burin 6-1 Sunday to register a sweep in provincial Under-14 boys soccer league play.

Morgan scored a brace of goals for the hometown boys two minutes apart with the first one denting the mesh at 20 minutes.

Antle scored at 11 minutes to open the scoring and added his second marker at 74 minutes to put the game in the books.

Evan Gallant, supplying the winning goal at 12 minutes, and Riley Chin also scored for Western at Wellington Street Sports Complex in Sunday’s lopsided afffair.

Talented striker Brent Hennebury was the lone marksman for the Burin Peninsula Soccer Association representatives.

Both teams entered the weekend series tied for fifth spot with identical 2-3-1 records in a nine-team league where only the top four teams earn a playoff berth.

Western will be at home again this weekend for a two-game series against Conception Bay South with games scheduled for Saturday 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. at Wellington.
