Fittingly enough, the 2016 Molson Kick-Off Cup came down to penalty kicks on Sunday.

Thanks to a winning boot from Arshia Kazerouni, the Corner Brook Under-18s captured the season-opening exhibition tournament crown with a 2-1 victory over Grand Bank.

Nathan Barker provided the regulation time goal for the U18s, while Mitch King had the lone tally for Grand Bank.

King opened the scoring in the 45th minute, before Barker evened it quickly in the 48th.

The Under-18s advanced to the final on the strength of a 3-0 win over the West Side Monarchs in the semifinal round.

Barker, Jordan Ryan and Luke House found the back of the net for the victors.

Ryan’s struck in the 16th minute, before Barker cashed in at the 22-minute mark. House capped the scoring in the 70th minute.

In the other semifinal, Grand Bank blanked Gander 3-0, with King scoring all three times in the win. He scored in the 22nd, 42nd and 65th minutes.
